ESET, the leader in proactive protection celebrating 25 years of its technology this year, has in recent weeks received a string of accolades and impressive test results – including high marks for its server product for Windows® (VB100), the highest Advanced+ mark in the performance test (AV Comparatives) and a spam catch rate close to 99.5% – earning it the “VBSpam” award.
On top of the positive showing, ESET received the record-breaking 74th “VB100” award from Virus Bulletin – UK’s independent antivirus testing authority. The VB Award is highly esteemed in the antivirus industry due to its rigorous testing methods and because no entry fee or repeat testing is allowed. In the latest test, ESET also secured high marks for its Windows Server® 2008 product used by business consumers.
“ESET came into this comparative with an aim to maintain a record-breaking streak of successful appearances—ESET comfortably earned a VB100 award, extending its epic unbroken run still further—the product has 12 passes in the last two years with no problems of note,” said Virus Bulletin in its report. “ESET is the only security software company that has achieved 53 VB100 awards without interruption. Thanks to our research and development we have continued to meet the demanding Virus Bulletin criteria for protection and false positives in each test on several platforms,” added ESET Chief Research Officer Juraj Malcho.
In another test, ESET Mail Security for Microsoft® Exchange Server has earned the Virus Bulletin’s “VBSpam” award this week. “A spam catch rate of close to 99.5% has made for an impressive debut for ESET,” notes the VB test, which measures the effectiveness of spam engines. ESET has ranked among the top products in both anti-spam categories: false positives and spam catch rate, which is further proof of ESET Mail Security’s powerful anti-spam engine’s reliability. In addition, in the latest AV-Comparatives performance test, ESET Smart Security 5 ranked among the top three products.
